WHITTIER: Check Presentation time. Whittier Host Lions drives around #Whittier dropping off cash towards worthy causes. Today’s event was at the Uptown Whittier #YMCA. $1500 to help them modify classrooms inside the facility to help better serve our community and our Youth in particular.
Youth Committee Chair @chrisvigilre is joined by current President Rick Gomez, Past President Steve Cauffman and current Civic Affairs Chair Ray Perez.
Both Steve and Ray are recent recipients of the City of Whittier Volunteer of the Year Award.
The beauty of the Whittier Host Lions Club is that every member volunteers their time, energy and enthusiasm absolutely FREE.

Whittier Host Lions were excited to support the @lasernahs Oasis Program led by teacher Mrs. Lisa Barnes.
Oasis is a special intervention program for sophomores and juniors. OASIS stands for “Organized Academic Support in School”
In this academic and emotional support class, students selected by their counselors as those on the verge of dropping out. They are partnered with 11th & 12th grade mentors to help guide them and navigate a successful academic high school experience.
